What is the Self Employment Training Program?
The Self Employment Training Program is an intensive eight-week training course sponsored by Alberta Employment, Immigration and Industry. This entrepreneurial training program covers the many aspects of starting and maintaining your own business. Guided by an experienced facilitator, eligible participants will research and develop a viable business plan. Follow-up assistance includes on site visits and counseling by the Self Employment Program Coordinator.You may be eligible to receive Employment Insurance benefits while you attend the training and benefits may be extended for a period of time while you start your business. The length and amount of your payments depends on your own personal Insurance Benefit claim. To determine eligibility for E.I benefits you must be assessed by and Alberta Employment, Immigration and Industry counsellor.

How do I apply?
To apply to the Self Employment Training Program you must complete the Client Application, Preliminary Business Proposal, Self Assessment, and Personal Statement of Affairs. These forms are available at Community Futures Entre-Corp or can be downloaded (see below).
Once you have returned the completed forms and met with the Self Employment Program Coordinator, your application will be assessed. Only those applicants with a viable business concept will be accepted into training.
